Everyone needs to get away occasionally. However, planning a vacation can be an expensive and frustrating endeavor. Luckily, there are ways that you can save on your next vacation if you follow some of the suggestions that we have provided here.
Travel during off-peak times
When peak season arrives, cruise lines, hotels, and airlines start raising their prices. It is simple, supply and demand, if more people want to travel between the end of June and late August through September (during summer), they can raise the prices. If your schedule is flexible, try traveling in May or early June and you may find better deals on hotels and airfare.
Instead of a hotel – look for a rental
Especially if you are traveling with a group of people this simply makes financial sense. Just imagine the cost of renting two or three hotel rooms for a week or even longer. Moreover, unlike in a hotel, you get a kitchen in a rental, which means that you can save on money by making your own food. Add in the privacy factor, and it may be the best way to go.
Go off the beaten path
If you go to a place that is known for tourism, you will pay more to stay there. Again, it is simple supply and demand. Even though it may sound difficult to find a nice location not known for tourism, places like the coastal areas in Brazil, Eastern Europe, and Costa Rica are more affordable than you may think.
If available – think all-inclusive
We are not going to suggest that all-inclusive is always the best possible deal, but if you go during an off-peak time, you can save a lot of money. For most resorts, all-inclusive means that all meals, all drinks, and even some excursions are already paid for. You can eat and drink as much as you want, and it will not cost you anything.
This may sound like the exact same thing as traveling during off-peak times, but it is different. Sometimes you can save a great deal of money by leaving a day before (or a day after) the original date you had planned. See how much that one day could save you and then see if you think that extra day is worth it. Many sites give you a price based on the day of the week and time of your flight; play around with different combinations to see if a better deal is right around the corner.
Remember to always look for better prices regardless; especially with the money you can save by using PriceDetect throughout the year, you may be able to spend a little extra on your next trip.
